Practice staff
Practice Manager
The practice manager, Mr David Clippingdale, is
responsible for the overall smooth running of the practice. He is available
to help with any non medical aspects of the services offered by the surgery.
It is important to know when we are doing well so please also let us know if
you have had a particularly good experience or if you have a suggestion that
may improve our service to you.
Reception and administrative staff
All our staff are here to help you and are pleased to do so.
The receptionists are your link with the rest of the practice. They may need
to ask you medical details in order to work effectively. They are at all times
working under the instructions of the doctors. All information given to them is
treated in confidence and they are bound by the same codes of conduct as the
doctors and nurses. The more information you can provide the more efficiently
they will be able to assist you.
Practice nurses
The practice nurses treat minor ailments and injuries, dress wounds, remove
stitches, syringe ears, give injections, take blood tests, take cervical smears
and give advice. They also run a number of clinics e.g. for blood pressure,
asthma and diabetes.
Attached staff
Attached staff, i.e. district nurses, health visitors, midwives and
chiropodists are employed by the health authority and work closely with the
practice staff.
Health visitors
Health visitors are available for advice on health care and health provision
for all age groups and families, both at the surgery and in the community. They
run child health clinics, and give advice on health care to expectant mothers,
small children, the elderly and the handicapped.
Community midwives
Midwives provide both ante and postnatal advice and care in the community.
They run antenatal clinics and work closely with the health visitors.
District Nurses
The District Nurses no longer work for the surgeries but can be contacted by
telephoning 01483 764873.
